Fabulous Piece Of Equipment - Rockwell RK9000 Jawhorse Review

By Gabriel Ramirez

If you have a project where you need an extra hand and this happens to you quite often, it will be a great investment and fix to those frustrating situations. I ordered the Jawhorse by standard delivery and it arrived the following day. Within a couple of days he has already built a train table for his train set and couldn't be happier.

Usually there seems to be a way if working by myself to incorporate the help of the Jawhorse. It came earlier then we thought it would. I've thought about buying this for quite some time and I'm glad I finally invested in this extra set of hands.

Quick and easy to set up and simple to use. It is SO much quicker to use than a regular bench vise - so much so that I find myself rarely using the bench vise, except for extreme circumstances. The Jawhorse is a very versatile, strong and stowable vise. The hole saw in particular was a non event; I held the drill steady for a minute and the job was done, perfectly. I and my son are very satisfied with this purchase and the tool.

Thank-you Rockwell! I can put the tabletop on its side when I need to store it and the Jawhorse can rest upright folded up without taking up too much space. Thankfully a local chain store has it on sale with a better price and instant gratification can be had without waiting for shipping. The foot lever used to clamp an object is a little light duty, however if you use common sense when applying pressure you soon realize that the jaws create an enormous amount of pressure with just a little pressure from your foot. I would not recommend this product at all. Now, after this Jawhorse lasts 30 years the Black & Decker will be 60 and I will be 99 and, I thought my husband had every tool gadget imaginable til we were doing home improvements and I came across this and realized it would be a huge help for the type of remodeling we were doing and he loved it so much that he purchased one for his dad a few days later and his dad still thanks him for it! If the leg is pushed all the way in as designed it wont pivot.

However, once you have it (or read reviews online) you find out it is a total piece of junk. This is what you would hope it would be if you have seen the TV ad.

To me, this makes it even more over-priced.

The rolling feature works best on relatively smooth ground, whether dirt, concrete, or asphalt. When transporting the tool to a job site, it takes up less space in my truck than does my Workmate (and, when I've had to borrow my wife's small car, it fits no problem in a small trunk). So far so good. It was very sturdy.
